How To Use TnJ's

There are several uses for TnJ's Organic Seasonings

On this page, you will find many ways to use TnJ’s seasonings, from our cast iron seasoning and our flat top griddles seasonings. Both types of seasonings make a great wood preservative for wooden cooking utensils and cutting boards. 


Our seasonings are 100% food-grade and organic. 

 

Cast Iron Maintenance:

1. After using your cast iron, clean it with mild soap and water.
2. Then towel dry completely and then warm it up on the stove or in the oven to around 200-225 degrees.
3. Apply TnJ’s liberally on the inside and outside of the cast iron cookware.
4. Let is set for 3-5 minutes then use a lint-free cloth to wipe down the entire pan.
5. Keep turning the cloth until it appears you have wiped ALL of the seasonings off.
6. Now let the pan cool and put it away for next time. It is just that easy.

Cast Iron Restoration:

1. Once you have removed all the old seasoning from the pan(in any method you choose).
2. Give the pan a good scrubbing with mild soap and water.
3. Preheat oven to 475 degrees. and cover the bottom rack with aluminum foil.
4. Completely dry the pan with a lint-free towel and set it on the stove to make sure all moisture is gone ( This needs to be done quickly so that flash rust does not form)
5. Apply TnJ’s on the entire surface, then wipe as much seasoning off as possible (This is important).
6. Place the pan face down on the top rack of the oven and heat for 1 hour.
7. Let the pan cool naturally and then remove the pan.
8. Go thru steps 3-7 at least 3 times for a pan that has been completely stripped of all seasoning.
9. You can use steps 3-7 as many times as you like but 3-5 is plenty.
10. It is now ready to use and you can refer to the maintenance “how too” above for daily use.

Flat Top Griddle Seasoning:

  • Step 1—Heat griddle to around 300°F – 350°F  for about 30 minutes. Then, turn it off and let it cool down.
  • Step 2—With the surface is still hot, apply TnJ’s Flat Top Seasoning with lint-free cloth. (Cautions surface will be hot use tongs to hold the cloth.  Spread the seasoning around the surface evenly 
  • Step 3—After applying the oil, turn the heat back on to 350°F.
  • Step 4—Heat until the seasoning on the griddle starts to smoke. Then, turn it off and let the griddle cool down completely.
  • Step 5—After cooling, wipe up any excess oil with a dry, soft cloth.

Season your flat top grill or griddle before you use it for the first time and as part of your usual maintenance, This will help keep your flat top working smoothly and allow you to perfectly cook pancakes, burgers, and more with no issues.

Cleaning your Flat Top after Cooking

  • Step 1—Heat griddle to around 300°F – 350°F  for about 30 minutes. Then, turn it off and let it cool down.
  • Step 2—With the surface is still hot, Spray water to create steam, then scrap off food particles until the surface is clean. This may take several rounds of water and steam to get it clean. 
  • Once you have you griddle top clean follow the Flat Top Griddle Seasoning Above. 

Season your flat top grill or griddle before you use it for the first time and as part of your usual maintenance, This will help keep your flat top working smoothly and allow you to perfectly cook pancakes, burgers, and more with no issues.
